Right at the border
One island, two countries. - Almost without borders, the German part of the island merges with the Polish part. The largest city of the island, Swinoujscie, is located in the Polish part of Usedom and has about 41,000 inhabitants. Swinoujscie will impress you with the many proud villas, an overseas port, a modern downtown and a lot of culture.
Beaches for days!
The mill beacon on the west pier, built in the nineteenth century, is the landmark of Swinemünde. Since 1945, the German-Polish border has run between the seaside resorts of Ahlbeck and Swinemünde. The 12.5 kilometers long beach promenade, which is also the longest promenade in Europe, connects the Polish town with the German imperial spas and invites visitors to stroll along.
